THE LONG GOODBYE: Richy Victor

Family and friends of the late WLS-TV producer-director Richy Victor gathered at Film and Tape Works June 18, one of four memorial services held in the U.S. and abroad for the "retired nice guy".

According to a sign in the lobby, the flowers were "left over from Irv Kupcinet's funeral" and coupons good for a free lunch buffet with Richy's favorite meatloaf and two buck chuck wine from Trader Joe's were handed out to all.

Larry Einhorn and Ray Taylor presided at the event that featured a rare kinescope of Richy and Kay Westfall (the prettiest girl in television) from WBKB days, and video of the director himself disrupting Steve Edward's AM Chicago.

Richy was remembered as a comedian, entrepreneur, restaurant owner and one half of the famous "Beatles Bed Sheet" enterprise when he and Einhorn bought up hotel bed linen slept on by the fabulous four hoping to make a killing in the market.

Quite a few folks shared their hilarious accounts of Richy's many capers and practical jokes. All of those who knew him had to admit it was the perfect send-off.
