Floyd Kalber, long-time news anchor at ABC 7 and WMAQ, passed away Thursday night at the age of 79. Floyd was a Silver Circle inductee of the Chicago/Midwest TV Academy. He will be missed.
"He's being remembered as a news pioneer whose authoritative delivery and solid approach to covering news helped to not only propel the ABC 7 station to number one status, but also shaped a chapter in Chicago broadcast history." (Frank Mathie, Ch. 7) Floyd is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Kathy Kinsella, son Mick and six grandchildren.
