The Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will hold its
annual Career Day Seminar on Saturday, March 15, 2008 from 9 a.m 12 p.m. at the studios of WCIU-TV, 26 N. Halsted in Chicago.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. The seminar is for college students interested in television as a career
and for young professionals looking to advance in their profession.
The panel will consist of distinguished Chicago television
professionals who have demonstrated their skills in the industry. On the panel are:
* Lilia Chacon, Reporter for WFLD Fox News.
* Sunmee Choi, Executive Producer and Host at
TLN.
* Adam Marton, Producer/Director for Filmworkers Club, a
Chicago production house.
* Marcus Riley, an Emmy Award winner web site
producer for WMAQ
* Abel Sanchez, Director of Design at
WBBM
* Fred
Weintraub, Station Manager, WCIU, Channel 26.
* Monica Zack, News Producer of WGN's very successful 9 O'Clock News.
The panel
will be moderated by Al Hall, an Emmy winner as Producer/Director at
WGN.
College students, TV Academy members and interested professionals will have the opportunity to talk with outstanding Chicago TV professionals--leaders in their field--about job availability, job qualifications, internships, educational requirements, and the background needed for a television job in Chicago. This is the word about the biz from the people who are working in the trenches NOW.
During the program, television professionals from the Chicago market will discuss their jobs and the requirements for those jobs. There will be representatives of most television disciplines on air as well as behind the camera. After an initial presentation by the panel members the program will be open to questions and discussion from the floor. Please note that this is not a job fair and applications will not be accepted.
