Not only will you benefit from the prestige of the TV Academy, you will receive enhanced credibility, opportunities to participate in educational and networking events, and experience for your resume.
  • Two FREE passes for EACH of several preview screenings of major motion pictures, including Oscar-nominated films and invitations to "Meet the Director" screenings co-sponsored by Independent Feature Project/Chicago.   • Emmy Awards - The Chicago/Midwest Regional Emmy Awards are presented annually for outstanding achievements in broadcasting. As a member, you receive a discount on Emmy entry fees, and a chance to recognize your personal excellence by entering your best work. You'll also have a chance to evaluate your peer's work from around the nation. Both program and craft offerings are screened to determine nominations for regional Emmy Awards. An opportunity to discover television techniques from other regions!
  • Silver Circle Awards Program - Each year, the TV Academy recognizes outstanding individuals who have devoted a quarter of a century or more to the television industry and have made significant contributions to Chicago/Midwest broadcasting. Members receive a discount to attend this event.
  • Invitations to Workshops - Learn about new technologies, terminology, and techniques from your colleagues. Workshops include the annual Career Day, where the opportunity is given to members to talk with leaders in the television field about job availability and qualifications. Past workshop topics included the multimedia newsroom, post production, HD Television, Covering the Iraq War, Investigative Reporting, and the Chicago sports television and video industry. Majority of workshops are free to members.
  • Scholarships - Our Chapter awards $2000-$4,000 scholarships annually to Academy members, their family members, and deserving television students.
  • Access to post "job listings" and "jobs wanted" on the TV Academy Job Bank on http://jobbank.emmyonline.org/ Job Bank is a comprehensive job listing service sponsored by the National Academy, the Chicago/Midwest Chapter, and 19 other chapters nationwide. It's the largest and fastest growing of all the television industry related job banks. With over 13,000 members, the National Television Academy is the single largest television professional association in the world.
  • Newsletters -- Professional membership offers you timely information throughout the year from local and national newsletters. Stay informed on news of the chapter, Emmy's, and program offerings throughout the year.
