2009 Silver Circle Honors Dinner

The Silver Circle Honors dinner will be held on Friday, April 24, 2009 at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel, 163 East Walton Place, in downtown Chicago. Silver Circle honors outstanding individuals who have devoted a quarter of a century or more to the television industry and have made a significant contribution to Chicago broadcasting. The Chicago/Midwest chapter is pleased to induct seven outstanding individuals this year.  It's not too late to order tickets!

The 2009 Honorees are:

elizabethbrackett.jpg.pngElizabeth Brackett - WTTW correspondent and segment host Elizabeth Brackett, best known for her work on Chicago Tonight, has among her honors a highly coveted Peabody Award for election coverage in 1988. Elizabeth's presenter is Mary Field.

 

 

 

 

 

marciadanits.jpg.pngMarcia Danits - From the infamous Chicago Conspiracy Trial of 1968/69 to the political scandals of the new millennium, courtroom artist Marcia Danits brought courtroom drama into the homes of CBS 2 viewers for more than 35 years. Marcia's presenter is John Drummond.

 

 

 

 

 

paulm.davis.jpg.pngPaul M. Davis - Veteran broadcaster and news director Paul Davis led WGN-TV News for more than a dozen years while tirelessly giving his time, expertise and leadership to local and national journalism organizations.  Paul's presenter is Jim Disch.

Arne Harris (posthumous) - As producer/director of Chicago Cubs baseball on WGN-TV for 37 years, Arne Harris developed a style of covering baseball action and fan reaction that made viewers feel as if they were at the ballpark.  Arne's presenter is Bob Vorwald. The award will be accepted by Arlene Harris.

Robin Robinson - Anchorwoman Robin Robinson joined WFLD-TV Fox Chicago News for its launch in 1987 and says she loves Chicago and “looking for news that gives you (the viewers) an edge in your everyday life.”  Robin's presenter is Ann Serafin.

 

 

 

 

 

jimstricklin.jpg.png Jim Stricklin - As a news and documentary videographer forNBC News, both local and network, Jim Stricklin brought a journalist’s eye to both breaking news coverage as well as to historic specials such as the reporton the Xenia, Ohio, tornado of 1974.  Jim's presenter is Scott Craig.

 

 

 

jerrytaft.jpg.png Jerry Taft - Meteorologist Jerry Taft has been predicting weather for ABC 7 viewers for a quarter of a century, calling on 15 years experience as an Air Force pilot and forecaster to help navigate the challenging Chicago area weather patterns.  Jerry's presenter is Ron Magers.

 

 

 

 

 

Host for the evening is Frank Mathie, Reporter, ABC 7 Chicago.  Frank is also a past Silver Circle Honoree.

Individual tickets for the dinner are $130 for TV Academy Members, $160 For Non-Members. $1850 for a Golden Circle Table of 10 which includes a special table signage and program acknowledgment.
