"The Thing About My Folks" Sept. 12, 2005, 7 p.m. Loews Webster Place, 1471 W. Webster Ave., Chicago IL, 60614
"The Thing About My Folks" is a poignant comedy starring Peter Falk (Columbo, The In-Laws) and Paul Reiser (Mad About You, Aliens) as father and son who, over the course of several stressful yet meaningful days, rediscover their love for each other while coping with a family crisis. The story begins as Sam (Falk) drops by his son’s family home unexpectedly with the news that his wife Muriel (Olympia Dukakis) has suddenly up-and-left after 40 years. The following morning, Ben asks his father to come look at a farmhouse he’s thinking of buying in upstate New York. The drive turn into an impromptu road trip that brings them closer together. Full of sweet humor and refreshing insight into family relationships, "The Thing About My Folks" strikes a chord with everyone who sees it, since we’re all searching for something, and often the first (and last) place we look is to our parents.
