WILD HOGS

Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy hit the road in this rollicking comedy-adventure about a group of middle-aged friends who decide to rev up their routine suburban lives with a freewheeling motorcycle trip.

Taking a long dreamed-of breather from their stressful jobs and family responsibilities, they can’t wait to feel the freedom of the open road. When this mis-matched foursome, who have grown far more used to the couch than the saddle, set out for this once-in-a-lifetime experience - they encounter a world that holds far more than they ever bargained for.

The trip begins to challenge their wits and their luck, especially during a chance run-in with the Del Fuegos, a real-life biker gang who are less than amused with their novice approach. As they go looking for adventure, they soon find that they’ve embarked on a journey they will never forget.

Members will receive an email that will admit you and a guest to both screenings.

PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY.

Seating is on a first come, first served basis and is NOT guaranteed. Theater is not responsible for seating over capacity. No admittance once screening has begun.

SWEET LAND

Please join IFP Chicago for a free screening of Sweet Land and a Q & A session with Director Ali Selim.

Nominated for two Film Independent Spirit Awards, Sweet Land is a poignant and lyrical celebration of land, love, and the American immigrant experience. When Lars Torvik's grandmother Inge dies in 2004, he is faced with a decision – sell the family farm on which she lived since 1920, or cling to the legacy of the land. Seeking advice, he turns to the memory of Inge and the stories that she had passed on to him. Inge arrives in Minnesota in 1920 to marry a young Norwegian farmer named Olaf, but her German heritage and lack of official immigration papers makes her an object of suspicion in the small town, and she and Olaf are forbidden to marry. Alone and adrift, Inge goes to live with the family of Olaf's friend and neighbor Frandsen and his wife Brownie, where she learns the English language, American ways, and a hard-won independence. Inge and Olaf slowly come to know each other, and against the backdrop of endless farmland and cathedral skies they fall in love. Still unable to marry, they live together openly, despite the scorn of the neighbors and the disapproval of the local minister. But when his friend Frandsen's farm is threatened by foreclosure, Olaf takes a stand, and the community unites around the young couple, finally accepting Inge as one of their own. Based on Will Weaver's short story "A Gravestone Made of Wheat" and shot on location in Southern Minnesota, Sweet Land is that rare independent feature that uses painterly images and understated performances to tell a universal story of love and discovery.

Featuring supporting performances by Ned Beatty, Paul Sand, and Lois Smith.

"Think of Sweet Land as a gift....one of the best films of 2006" —Kenneth Turan of the Los Angeles Times

"Two Thumbs Up®" —Ebert & Roeper

BREACH

Inspired by true events, Breach is a dramatic thriller set inside the halls of the FBI—the gatekeeper of the nation’s most sensitive and potentially volatile secrets. When young Eric O’Neill (Ryan Phillippe) is promoted out of his low-level surveillance job and into the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, his dream of becoming a full-fledged agent is on the verge of becoming reality. Even more impressive, O’Neill is hand picked to work for renowned operative Robert Hanssen (Chris Cooper) within “information assurance,” a new division created to protect all classified FBI Intelligence. But O’Neill is quickly confronted with the true reason behind his hire: Hanssen is the sole subject of a long-term, top-secret investigation, a suspected mole made all the more dangerous by the sheer global import of the information he is charged with protecting. Co-starring Laura Linney. Following his success with the electrifying and acclaimed Shattered Glass, writer/director Billy Ray explores more deeply the disillusionment and questionable moral mentorship of a young idealist in Breach. As seating is on a first come, first served basis, your early arrival is suggested. No one will be admitted once theater capacity is reached.

Members will receive a pass in the mail that will admit you and a guest.
