A sly, dead-panned social comedy about the dangers of navigating
life without a compass, KING OF THE CORNER paints a portrait of Leo
(Peter Riegert), his family and his world. His father (Eli Wallach) is
ailing, his daughter (Ashley Johnson) is growing up too fast, his
protégé (Jake Hoffman) is after his job, his wife (Isabella Rosselini)
is running out of patience and his judgement is becoming blurred.
Through a twist of fate and the wisdom of a rabbi (Eric Bogosian), Leo
charts his way through these murky waters towards middle age
self-redemption and a second chance. Shot by the imaginative
cinematographer Mauricio Rubinstein (Casa De Los Babys) with music by
rock'n'roll legend Al Kooper and edited with Mario Ontal's able hand,
KING OF THE CORNER is director Peter Riegert's first feature since his
Academy Award nominated short, By Courier (2000). KING OF THE CORNER
was co-written by Riegert and Gerald Shapiro, based on Shapiro's
collection of short stories, Bad Jews and Other Stories. DIRECTOR: PETER REIGERT Peter
Riegert made his directorial debut with the short film By Courier,
which was nominated for an Academy Award in 2000. He has appeared in
