THE STRIP

Writer/director Jameel Khan's feature film debut is a lightweight, good-hearted, occasionally insightful comedy called The Strip.

The Strip is a character-driven comedy dissecting the lives of five employees of a low-end electronics chain called Electri-City. The ensemble of colorful yet grounded characters takes us deeper into the monotonous world of working at a strip mall. Bound by the constraints of suburban life and a 1/4 mile of strip mall, they, like everybody else, dream of something more. As their stories interweave, their friendships are tested. Ultimately they struggle together to find that some dreams are not worth chasing.

Starring Dave Foley (of Kids in the Hall), Rodney Scott, and Billy Aaron Brown, The Strip was shot in Chicago in the summer of 2006.

Seating is limited. Please RSVP with your name and guests to This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it . Your name will be put on a complimentary passes list. Walkups are welcome with a printout of the e-mail sent to members, provided seats are still available.

IT'S COMPLICATED

Universal Pictures, NATAS Chicago/Midwest, and the Illinois Film Office invite you to an advance screening of It's Complicated, the latest movie from Nancy Myers (Something's Gotta Give, The Holiday), starring Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, and Alec Baldwin.

Jane (Streep) is the mother of three grown kids, owns a thriving Santa Barbara bakery/restaurant and has—after a decade of divorce—an amicable relationship with her ex-husband, attorney Jake (Baldwin). But when Jane and Jake find themselves out of town for their son's college graduation, things start to get complicated. An innocent meal together turns into the unimaginable—an affair. With Jake remarried to the much younger Agness (Lake Bell), Jane is now, of all things, the other woman. Caught in the middle of their renewed romance is Adam (Martin), an architect hired to remodel Jane's kitchen. Healing from a divorce of his own, Adam starts to fall for Jane, but soon realizes he's become part of a love triangle.

Should Jane and Jake move on with their lives, or is love truly lovelier the second time around? It's...complicated.

EXTRAORDINARY MEASURES

CBS Films’ Extraordinary Measures is inspired by the true story of John Crowley, a man who defied conventional wisdom and great odds, and risked his family's future to pursue a cure for his children's life threatening disease.

From his working class roots, John Crowley (BRENDAN FRASER) had finally begun to taste success in corporate America. Supported by his beautiful wife Aileen (KERI RUSSELL) and their three children, John is on the fast track. But just as his career is taking off, Crowley walks away from it all when his two youngest children, Megan and Patrick, are diagnosed with a fatal disease. With Aileen by his side, harnessing all of his skill and determination, Crowley teams up with a brilliant, but unappreciated and unconventional scientist, Dr. Robert Stonehill (HARRISON FORD). Together they form a bio-tech company focused on developing a life-saving drug.  One driven to prove himself and his theories, the other by a chance to save his children, this unlikely alliance eventually develops into mutual respect as they battle the medical and business establishments in a fight against the system – and time.

But, at the last minute, when it appears that a solution has been found, the relationship between the two men faces a final test – the outcome of which will affect the fate of John's children.

THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL

From writer-director Ti West comes "The House of the Devil," a satanic thriller set in the 1980s starring Jocelin Donahue (JT Petty's forthcoming "The Burrowers"), indie ingénue Greta Gerwig ("Hanna Takes the Stairs," "Baghead"), Tom Noonan ("Snow Angels," "Manhunter"), Mary Woronov ("Eating Raoul," "The Devil's Rejects"), AJ Bowen ("The Signal") and Dee Wallace ("E.T.," Rob Zombie's "Halloween").

Sam (Donahue) is a pretty college sophomore, so desperate to earn some cash for a deposit on an apartment that she accepts a babysitting job even after she finds out there is no baby. Mr. and Mrs. Ulman (cult actors Noonan and Woronov) are the older couple who lure Sam out to their creeky Victorian mansion deep in the woods, just in time for a total lunar eclipse. Megan (Gerwig) is Sam's best friend, who gives her a ride out to the house, and reluctantly leaves her there despite suspecting that something is amiss. Victor (Bowen) at first seems like just a creepy guy lurking around the house, but quickly makes it clear that Sam will end this night in a bloody fight for her life...
